Global Leagues Hub Update

The World Cricketers’ Association (WCA) has highlighted the inaugural European T20 Premier League (ETPL) as a leading example of player engagement in the latest Global Leagues Hub Update.

Drawing on contract reviews, operational analysis, and feedback from players and agents, the WCA Global Leagues Hub Update provides a point-in-time overview of progress and live and emerging issues raised across the global domestic leagues landscape, with a focus on the standards and protections that underpin professional competitions.

Right to Organise

Earlier this year, the International Labour Organization adopted the first guidelines on the fundamental rights at work for professional athletes. These guidelines recognise professional cricketers as workers who are entitled to the same basic rights and protections as any other worker including freedom of association, the right to organise and collective bargaining.
Players in some parts of the world face strong opposition to organising, forming and joining a players' association.

WCA is committed to ensuring these rights are protected across the global landscape. If a player you know is experiencing any issues in relation to these rights, please get in touch with a member of our team.

If the game is to continue growing globally, so too must the underpinning player rights, protections and support.

NZCPA

The New Zealand Cricket Players’ Association has appointed Simon Porter as Chief Executive. Bringing extensive experience in athlete advocacy, commercial leadership, law and cricket governance, Simon will lead the NZCPA into its next chapter, representing and supporting New Zealand’s current and past professional cricketers.

ACA

The Australian Cricketers' Association (ACA) could be headed for an independent assessment of revenue share implications, amid a potential dispute with Cricket Australia regarding the privatisation of the W/BBL.

PCA

The Professional Cricketers' Association has been supporting Somerset seamer Mollie Robbins who is set to be their first member to give birth and return to the professional game thanks to a transformed maternity policy. Robbins spoke to Beyond the Boundaries, the PCA’s relaunched, online member magazine.

Cricketers' Welfare Association  Bangladesh

Following the BCB’s decision to postpone the 26/27 season of the BPL, the Cricketers' Welfare Association of Bangladesh meet with the BCB on behalf of the country’s professional cricketers to request an increase in match fees across all men’s domestic competitions.

World Players Institute

WPI 2026 is part of World Players' work to build research capacity and strengthen the evidence base for collective bargaining and player representation. By bridging academia to the topics that directly affect players — labour rights, health and safety, and sport economics — WPI aims to translate knowledge and data into stronger negotiating positions for player associations.

SLPCA

Earlier this year, Sri Lanka's current professional cricketer's announced the formation of the Sri Lankan Professional Cricketers' Association (SLPCA). The formation of SLPCA comes at a transformational time for Sri Lankan Cricket, following a sustained period of positive progress and reform across the sport in the country.

Will Jacks has retained his spot at the top of the Men’s T20 Player Index – despite significant changes to the top 10.
Jacks currently sits 100 points clear of Hardik Pandya and Abhishek Sharma who are second and third respectively.

Natalie Sciver-Brunt remains #1, a ranking she took in July following an impressive T20 World Cup, while another former top-ranked player, Australian Ellyse Perry, is hot on her heels after climbing to #2.
India’s Shafali Verma is at #3, a career best.
